Mother-of-pearl work that continued on for a thousand year since the Goryeo Age captures the heart of the people who see it due to the rich, diverse light of the nature. Likewise, the rich, diverse light of mother-of-pearl, which is more beautiful than any jewelry, serves as a medium for communication that connects the tradition and the modern.

The contemporary-design combining the mother-of-pearl techniques and major 2 materials of metal and lacquer and represents contemporary and sensible products. In addition, the mother-of-pearls with the most beautiful color were selected and attached one by one using the 'cutting technique' to highlight unique exquisiteness and elaborateness of handicraft, reinterpreting the traditional mother-of-pearl inlaying technique. We intend to present the most honest "craft" based on the attitude of offering the gift to our loved ones.

Jan: The glass that is made manually on top of the stainless steel ensures clean and refreshing drinking when drinking alcoholic beverage due to the nature of the material itself. It is easy to use it since it is short and the entrance is wide.

lamp&diffuser: Metallic container that offers two functions, lamp and diffuser. This offers the function of purifying hazardous air and odor in the surrounding when the wick of the cover is lighted up. The color is subtly elegant since the nacre polishing work on top of the metal was carried out towards the vertical direction.

candle holder: This is a small candle holder for tea light candle. Nacre work was administered at the lower part of the product to add on light of the nacre on top of the simple color of the metal. It is possible to use at diverse spaces thanks to the simple design.

oil lamp: This is a mini oil lamp. Colorful nacre was subjected to the polishing work to express by optimizing beauty. In fact, this even purifies the hazardous air and odor in the surrounding when the wick is lighted up. This impresses anyone even when it is placed at any place since it is a modern representation of the Korean material.

diffuser&candle holder: This is a multi-functional product that offers two functions; diffuser and candle holder. At the lower part of the work, colorful nacre surrounds the metal container where diffuser solvent is placed in. When it is not used, then it is possible to use the candle holder by closing it like a cover.

time capsule: This is called time capsule or memory box. Time capsule is a product with the function of a box. It is possible to store precious items in it. It is evermore sturdy and beautiful since the outside and the inside are separated. The sculpture at the upper part of the cover symbolizes chrysanthemum.

김현주 작가는 금속에 옻칠을 입히는 금태칠 기법과 그 위에 자개를 붙이는 끊음질 기법으로 작업을 진행하고 있습니다.

고려시대부터 천년을 이어온 나전은 오색영롱한 천연의 빛으로 보는 사람의 마음을 사로잡는다고 합니다. 이처럼 작가에게 있어서 자개의 오색영롱한 빛은 어떤 보석보다도 아름다운, 전통과 현대를 이어주는 소통의 매개체입니다.

금속, 옻칠 2가지의 주재료와 나전기법을 접목한 현대공예•디자인으로서, 현대인의 라이프스타일을 반영하여 모던하고 감각적인 공예품을 선보이고 있습니다. 또한 ‘나전’이라는 전통기법을 재해석하여 가장 아름다운 빛깔의 자개만을 골라 하나 하나 이어붙이는 ‘끊음질 기법’으로 수공예 특유의 성실함과 정성을 담았습니다. 소중한 사람에게 ‘선물’을 드리는 마음으로 가장 정직한 ‘공예’를 선물하고자 합니다.

Jan SET : 스테인레스 스틸 위에 하나하나 수작업을 통하여 완성된 잔은 소재의 특성상 술을 마실 때 청량하며 시원한 목 넘김을 느끼게 합니다. 길이가 짧고 입구가 넓어서 사용 시 편리합니다.  

lamp & diffuser : 램프와 디퓨져 2가지 기능으로 활용이 가능한 금속컨테이너 입니다. 뚜껑의 심지에 불을 피우게 되면 주변의 유해한 공기와 냄새를 정화시켜주는 기능이 있습니다. 금속위에 끊음질 작업을 세로 방향으로 하여 그 빛깔이 은은합니다.

candle holder : 티라이트 초를 담을 수 있는 작은 캔들 홀더입니다. 제품의 아래쪽에 나전작업을 더하여 금속의 단조로운 색상위에 자개의 빛을 담아냈습니다. 심플한 디자인으로 다양한 공간에서 연출이 가능합니다. 바디의 아래 쪽에 나전작업을 더하여 금속의 단조로운 색상위에 자개의 빛을 담아냈습니다.

diffuser & candle holder : 디퓨져와 캔들 홀더 2가지 기능을 하는 멀티 기능성 제품입니다. 작품의 하단에는 디퓨져 용액을 담아 사용할 수 있는 금속 컨테이너를 오색영롱한 자개가 감싸고 있습니다. 사용하지 않을 때에는 캔들홀더를 뚜껑처럼 닫아 사용하실 수 있습니다.

oil lamp : 미니 오일램프 입니다. 오색영롱한 자개를 끊음질 기법을 통하여 아름다움을 극대화시켜 표현하였습니다. 심지에 불을 피우게 되면 주변의 유해한 공기와 냄새를 정화시켜주는 기능이 있습니다. 한국적인 소재를 모던한 형태로 풀어내어 어느 곳에 놓여도 보는 이를 감동 시킵니다.

time capsule : 타임캡슐 또는 기억상자라고도 합니다. 타임캡슐은 함의 기능을 가진 작품입니다. 그 안에는 소중한 물건을 담아 보관할 수 있습니다. 외부와 내부가 분리되도록 제작하여 더욱 견고하고 아름답습니다. 뚜껑 위쪽의 조형물은 국화를 상징합니다.

+ 동, 적동, 스테인레스등의 금속원재료를 사용하여 만들어진 제품들의 관리방법으로 소금과 식초를 1:1 비율로 혼합한 뒤 마른 천에 액체를 적당히 묻힌 후 금속부분의 표면을 문질러 주시면 됩니다.
+ 표면의 액체를 모두 닦아낸 후 보관합니다.
+ 장시간 물에 노출시키면 자개의 변형이 생길 수 있으니 정해진 세척 방법을 이용하여 주십시오.
+ 금속제품의 보관은 습도가 높지 않은 곳이 적절합니다.
+ 모든 제품에는 자개를 사용하였습니다. 자개의 표면에는 나노세라믹 코팅을 사용하여 외부의 충격과 오염으로부터 보호하였습니다.
+ 제품의 특성상 단순 변심이나 상품의 개봉 후에는 교환 및 반품, 환불이 어렵습니다.
작품의 색상은 모니터 해상도에 따라 약간의 색상차이가 있을 수 있습니다.
